GDC 2010: Power Gig Demonstration

Seven45 Studios announced their upcoming, “real guitar powered” music game PowerGig: Rise of the SixString earlier this week during GDC (You can find full details right here). But basically, it’s Rock Band/Guitar Hero with an actual guitar instead of a plastic mock one. Additional, more official details will undoubtedly be coming over the coming weeks, but in the meantime, we’ll have to settle for some dude rocking out to the game at the game’s awesome, parent's basement-esque booth at GDC: Watch Larger Version of this Video

Deus Ex: Human Revolution GDC Teaser Trailer Released

Square Enix have given us our first (albeit all CGI without a hint of gameplay) look at the long awaited third installment in Eidos’ revered RPG shooter, Deus Ex 3. Or as it’s now known, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Considering Square Enix is handling the cinematics for the game, it’s no wonder the trailer looks rather slick. Still, I would have appreciated even just a sliver of gameplay footage. But you decide: Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version

More Portal 2 News Coming At E3

At the Game Developers Choice Awards last night, Valve dropped some info on Portal 2 in patented Valve style. During Gabe Newell's speech at the show, a blue screen of death appeared on monitors, but it was no ordinary BSoD; it contained coded messages related to the upcoming sequel to Portal. Portal 2's rollout has been in a series of puzzles, and the blue-screen was no different. It contained a coded message that translates to: GLaDOS A fatal exception (S) has occurred at (U)(S) : (P)(E)(N)(D) in (U)(N )(T)((I)) * (L)(E)(E)(E). The current application will be terminated. * Press any key to flood the facility with deadly neurotoxins. * Press CTRL+ALT+DEL again to reinstate testing. You will lose any Non-vital personnel and their progress through the current test. Press any key to continue _ Get it? "Suspend until E3?" Looks like we'll have to wait until June's big show to get more information on this game.

Feedback: GDC 2010 Field Trip — PlayStation Move And Show Impressions

You know what's better than one Feedback in a given week? Try two Feedbacks! And we're not talking about just doubling up with another in-studio edition either. I'm talking about a super special on location field trip edition of Feedback from the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco! Do we treat you right, or what? Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version On this special Field Trip version of Feedback Adam Sessler, Abbie Heppe, Andrew Pfister and Patrick Klepek share their thoughts on: Sony’s newly named PlayStation Move motion controller: Should Sony have put a bigger emphasis on built-from-the-ground-up Move games, instead of touting how well Zipper Interactive was able to graft on motion controls to SOCOM 4? Heavy Rain is selling well: We’re a little surprised, but it’s definitely encouraging. What could this mean for the future of interactive fiction? X-Play: All Access Fable III Preview

Peter Molyneux and the team at Lionhead Studios are taking the award winning Fable franchise into some interesting and bold new directions. From weapons that reflect your characters behavior, to the ability to “touch” other characters in the game, and even potential Project Natal integration, Fable III is easily one of the more ambitious titles coming this year (Molyneux and ambitious? No!). X-Play recently grabbed Mr. Molyneux for an All Access look at his highly anticipated title. Here’s a little bit of what he had to say about the game’s rumored Natal support: "Fable III is definitely a controller based game, principally…But we’d be crazy not to use some of the Natal functionality.” While you speculate about what this could mean for the game, feel free to check out the full interview below: Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version

Review: Mega Man 10

Here's some news that older game cats are going to love: Mega Man 10 is out, right now, on the Wii, and the PlayStation Network. It'll be out on the 360 at the end of the month. G4's Kat Bailey played through this homage to the 8-bit era and brought back a review. The verdict: "It’s a far sight better than many of the mediocre to awful sequels that have represented the franchise of the years. If you love 8-bit era Mega Man classics, Mega Man 10 definitely belongs in your collection." Read the rest of the review, right here. And when you're finished reading the review, check out this hilarious ad for the product. If Mega Man 10 had come out in 1987, it would have had a commercial like this. Also, you might never have been born! Watch Larger Version of this Video

Hey, Look, There’s Steve Wiebe Trying To Beat His Donkey Kong Score

It seems like Steve Wiebe's job these days is to come to various gaming-related conventions and attempt to beat the world record score for Donkey Kong over and over again. That's no different at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week, where someone else paid Wiebe to make another attempt at gaming history. I'll try to let you know if he succeeds. Have something to share? Sitting on a news tip? E-mail me. You can also follow me on Twitter.

Motion Fighters GDC 2010 Interview

If you’re going to introduce a new motion controller, a boxing game is an absolute must. Enter Sony’s PlayStation Move-powered, street brawler Motion Fighters (which is most likely just a working title for now). G4’s resident fisticuffs menace Patrick Klepek caught up with Sony Europe producer John McLaughlin during GDC 2010 to find out more details about the game. “What’s cool is we can do those smaller gestures, and that will be replicated on screen. You full punch in real life, that will be replicated on screen. So pretty much, treat it like a real life fight, if you’re ever in that position; really fight, and you’ll win in the game. And because we’ve got the PlayStation Eye as well, we can head track, we detect your bobbing, your weaving, your crouching as well.” Check out the full interview below for more info (and to see some spectacular KLEPPEEEEKKKKK FLAAAAAAILLLLLL): Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version
